Share a special gift at Christmas

Dear Friends:

As the Christmas season arrives, we ask you to consider donating to help Bethania and Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Homes provide spiritual care and recreation programs and services to the over two hundred residents and their families. As you may know, these programs rely on donations from our families and community members.

We would like to share testimonials about the importance of spiritual care and recreation support from two family members.

When I think about my father Gerrit Kuik’s residence at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home for the last few years of his life, I am thankful, as he was. Dad was thankful for the care provided by the nurses, the health care aides, and the physiotherapists. He enjoyed the chapels, the musical events, the games, and other activities. He recognized the work of the kitchen, cleaning, laundry, and maintenance staff and appreciated all they did to make his stay at Bethania comfortable. He also particularly loved the pleasant grounds around the home in the summertime, with the beautiful flower gardens and the fishpond… things he had cared for meticulously in his own yard for many years and which he was instrumental in refurbishing at Bethania. Of great importance was the spiritual environment in the home, where God’s fatherly care, Christ’s redeeming work, and the Holy Spirit’s abiding presence were freely acknowledged. Dad felt at home, he said… and that is quite something for someone who had been very active and independent up until his time at Bethania.

As a volunteer I have personally witnessed the enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, and dedication that staff put into the planning of the high quality recreational and spiritual care activities. These highly participatory activities bring out the best in the residents and play an essential role during times when we as family are unable to be there for them.

Without the generous support of our donors, we would not be able to deliver these programs which are so vital to the creation of a very personal home for our residents.
