The name Bethania is derived from the biblical description of a small village, Bethania or Bethany, in Israel where Jesus was said to have met the residents physical and spiritual needs. It was a reflection of that same Christian faith that brought Bethania into being in 1945.
Since that time, Bethania has expanded its role. The Bethania Group now provides care in two Personal Care Homes and owns or manages several elderly housing complexes. What has not changed, however, is our commitment to Christian service for the elderly. As a Mennonite organization we strive to operate in a manner consistent with our motto taken from Galatians 6:2, Bear ye one anothers burdens.
Your gift to the Foundation will play an important part in providing specialized services (such as the Spiritual Care Program and the Pet Therapy Program) for those we serve. Well-being, health and healing includes the physical, psychological and spiritual dimensions of need. Our Spiritual Care Program represents this essential part of our care services. We receive no government funding for Spiritual Care, so donor support is vital. These financial gifts enable us to continue to offer these programs to our residents, their families and our staff, as we continue our commitment to minister to the whole person.
